Although the pandemic is far from being over, sensations of a new normal are already being felt. With the arrival of summer, you may be wondering where you can go for some fun. Here are some ideas of what you can do while being cautious and maintaining social distancing:

Bicycle Sundays
Both lanes of the Bronx River Parkway close to traffic between 10am and 2pm on June 7, 14, 21, and 28. In September the dates are Sept 13, 20, and 27. It runs from Main Street in White Plains to Scarsdale Road in Yonkers. There are many entrances along the route and available on-street parking.

County Trailway
This paved trailway spans over 34 miles in Westchester and Putnam counties. It’s suitable for walking and biking.

The Walkway Over The Hudson
Poughkeepsie, NY
This is the world’s longest elevated pedestrian bridge. The linear park spans the Hudson River between the Town of Lloyd in Ulster County and the City of Poughkeepsie in Dutchess County. You can walk, bike, or scooter.

Kensico Dam Plaza
Valhalla, NY
This is a great park for all ages and for many activities like walking, running, biking, and ball games.

Croton Gorge Park
Cortlandt, NY
This park offers impressive views of the dam and spillway. It is also a popular venue for fishing, picnicking, sledding, and cross-country skiing. There is also fountain and direct access to New York State’s Old Croton Aqueduct trail. The Old Croton Trail begins in the park.

Ward Pound Ridge Reservation
Pound Ridge, NY
This 4,310-acre reservation is the county’s largest park, with varied terrain, beautiful landscapes, and miles of wooded trails.

Silver Lake Preserve Trail
West Harrison and White Plains, NY
Here you will find a 1.7-mile loop that goes around Silver Lake. It is mainly used for hiking at different skill levels. Trails wander through woodlands and fields, passing streams and old stone foundations.

Cranberry Lake Preserve
West Harrison, NY
This park offers a 1.8-mile loop trail. It features a lake and is good for all skill levels.

Turkey Mountain Preserve
Yorktown Heights, NY
This preserve has 3 miles of trails. The sweeping views to the Croton Reservoir and the Manhattan skyline from the top of Turkey Mountain are the reason that the preserve is a popular place to hike.

Rockefeller State Park Preserve
Pleasantville, NY
This park offers wetlands, woodlands, meadows, fields, and a lake. It is ideal for fishing, strolling, and jogging, as well as for birdwatching, photography, and sketching.

Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park
Yorktown Heights, NY
This 960-acre park offers biking, a boat launch, boat rentals, disc golf, fishing, picnic tables, pavilions, and playing fields.

Nyack Beach State Park
Here you will find a 5.2-mile riverfront pathway. It is popular for panoramic views of the river and the cliffs rising 700 feet on the other side.

Jones Beach State Park
Here you will find six miles of ocean beach, as well as a bay at field 5.
Parking is reduced to 50% capacity and the BBQ area is temporally closed.

Robert Moses State Park
This State Park has five miles of fine white sandy beaches. It’s ideal for swimming and sunning. The park also features ballfields, saltwater fishing, and surfing areas.
