Holiday purchases, the menus we choose to prepare, the planning of the holidays, and the arrival of a new year are some of the topics where our attention is focused during this time. It is inevitable that the anxiety we feel about the organization and the preparation for these events will alter our stress level. Stress is not always a negative thing, but it is important not to get sick because of it. It is a response that a person manifests before an environmental stimulus. When the person responds adequately to these demands, it is the positive stress, which is essential for the human being. But there is also the negative stress. This happens when the demands can be excessive, very intense, or prolonged and they overpass the capacity of resistance and adaptation of the person causing a corporal and psychological discomfort. Being able to face stress and make it a personal growth opportunity for our lives is possible even in the holiday season. To make this task possible, we share some suggestions that can help you find the necessary balance and to experience these days with more harmony and health. Choose who we want to share with Many times you are forced to be in places where you do not want to be. It is fundamental to plan the holidays, meetings and celebrations. We should be more honest with ourselves and our family and friends and choose where and with whom to share this time. Planning If we like to give holiday presents, it is advisable to buy the gifts in advance and not to do it at the last moment. Do not lose focus. Holidays are moments to share with family and friends. The experience goes beyond material possesions. Say no Learning to say no in a way that does not encompass more than can be fulfilled. This involves properly organizing our time and schedules. Be assertive in the time it takes us to perform each activity (rest, meals, travel, etc.). Dedicate time to yourself Even if it is only a half hour per day, you have to schedule time to relax and do things you enjoy. You should forget your problems and leave your mind blank. You can do artistic activities, breathing exercises, meditation, yoga, etc. Focus on the present Value what you are doing and not what remains to be done. If something is on your mind, instead of complaining or regretting, change it into a new goal. Perform physical activity Practicing a sport is a good choice when it comes to calming nervousness and excess energy. It helps you to connect with yourself and facilitates rest, as well as releasing endorphins, which work for the well-being of body and mind. Rest and eat well Last but not least, remember that the minimum daily rest required should be between six and eight hours. Maintaining a balanced diet according to the demands of your body will bring you a level of energy fit to live fully and experience the festivities that are approaching.

Decir no
