Playland features over 50 exciting rides and attractions, including the ever-popular Kiddyland for our youngest fans, a 1,200-foot beach on Long Island Sound, and a boardwalk that’s just right for exercise, viewing the water or just taking a quiet “time out” from the bustling park. There’s always something special happening at Playland, so make plans to join us often in 2021.
A National Historic Landmark, Playland has been captivating people of all ages from the metropolitan area for over 90 years. Whether they come for thrill rides like the Double Shot or the Super Flight roller coaster, or to enjoy the iconic Dragon Coaster, a day at Playland is a sure-fire bet for a great day of fun for the entire family. The park also boasts a challenging mini-golf course.
Hop on your favorite horse and ride the Grand Carousel and Derby Racer, two of the park’s original, classic rides. The historic 106-year-old Mangels-Carmel carousel features 66 completely restored hand-carved wooden horses. Across the Great Lawn, lies the Derby Racer, one of only three steeple chase rides still in existence. Built in 1927 for Playland by Prior & Church, the horses move back and forth as well as up and down, simulating a true gallop as it races around the track.
The amusement park, which was closed for the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be open through Labor Day, Sept. 6; Wednesday – Sunday, and Mondays July 5 and Sept. 6. For the season’s schedule go to PlaylandPark.org or call the park at (914) 813-7000.
Playland welcomes visitors back with lower admission prices this season. Rider wristbands are $20, and Junior Rider wristbands are $15, per person. Spectator wristbands are free for Westchester County residents (proof of residency required) and $10 for non-residents. Parking is $10 per car.
New this year, save time – buy online. Make your Playland visit a seamless experience this season by purchasing wristbands online ahead of your visit. Visitors who have not been fully vaccinated are responsible for wearing masks.
Be sure to catch Playland’s Friday Night Fireworks from July 9 through Sept. 3, with a finale event Sunday, Sept. 5. All fireworks displays begin at 9:15 p.m.
